Abstract

Inclusive education in Ecuador has come a long way from its beginnings in the 1940s to the present, a process marked by advances and challenges, with the ultimate goal of guaranteeing quality education for all children; That is why actions are being carried out in line with the postulates of education in the 21st century, such as learning to live together, with others. It is understood that educational institutions must adapt to serve students with specific educational needs, without discriminating based on their social, cultural condition, ideology, sex, ethnicity or any physical, intellectual, sensory disability or intellectual giftedness. It is concluded that to achieve an education that responds to the diversity of all students, it is necessary to strengthen political commitment, investment in resources, and teacher training
