Abstract

Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage emotions positively. In the tutorial action, it could be useful to successfully complete an investigation. In this sense, the purpose of the article is to analyze the perspectives on the importance of emotional intelligence in the investigative tutoring process. From the methodological point of view, it is research with a qualitative approach, an interpretive paradigm, in which twenty postgraduate students from the area of ​​education participated, who have served as undergraduate tutors and are currently developing their doctoral thesis. They were divided into two focus groups in which, from their perspectives, they contributed ideas regarding the theme under study. Once the information obtained was transcribed, a hermeneusis of the content was carried out. As a result, four categories were obtained: challenges of the tutorial relationship, qualities of a good tutor, types of tutor, and types of students. It is concluded that emotional intelligence is essential to face the challenges that arise in the tutorial process and that this is a very important quality that a good tutor must possess.
